When we first started with Stacker Classic, I had different apps for different departments. It was a nightmare. Correspondence between departments was impossible and when I would change the layout in one app, I would have to remember to do it in the other. Also, managers would have to switch between apps and remember which was which. With StackerX, I set up unique roles for each department. In my layouts, I use tabs for different workflows or sets of information, then set up role visibility on entire tabs or certain sections or on specific actions. The nice thing is that two different departments can talk to each other about the same record (under "Activity") but only see the fields/actions applicable to them. Also, managers can see everything they need to in one place. I hope that helps! If you have specific follow-up questions, please let me know :)

My recommendation would also be to keep it in one app and have different views/permissions based on roles

Thank you! @green-account-75240 and @elegant-eve-85294 I thought I was doing something wrong! It seems like some Stacker users create additional apps as a way to organize departments when using views and permissions would be more appropriate. I wonder if the Stacker development team will build out more app-level features so that creating multiple apps is no longer attractive...
@green-account-75240 would you be open to sharing a couple screen shots of your app? I'm curious to see how you organized it.

@ripe-book-6760 I will work on taking some and sharing them under the showcase channel ... I just have to make sure I'm capturing non-user specific info since we're a school :)
