@helpful-caravan-75149 What kind of a field is this percentage field? It looks like an alphanumeric sort instead of purely numeric. In alphanumeric sorting, 0 comes before 1 because the values themselves don’t matter—only which number digit comes first

it was a formula field, and I tried using VALUE() function, which, as I understand, should return numerical version of the passed-in string. however, i've managed to resolve this differently, so I have deleted the formula fields. what you're saying makes sense, though, so consider this resolved, i'll keep that in mind for the future.
