Hi there. I am starting with solidus and I was wondering what import export solution do you recommend. As far as I read there is no solidus specific solution and I haven't found any rails good fit solution. I don't have much experience with rails. What I am trying to do is creating my own set of jsons. If it does not work well I believe I will do it externally with the API endpoints. I am enjoying a lot solidus. It certainly does less than wordpress but the less that it does is the core needed and much more easy to work and improve on. Thanks for working on it!

I looked around and ended up writing my own import/export controller under the spree/admin modules. In my case I was importing woocommerce csv data and exporting csv reports. I did this in about 150 lines, Rails is pretty easy to extend! For your case, there is already a REST API so you can probably just snag an output depending on formatting you need. (hell, if you're familiar with WP, you could get an API call, format in PHP fairly easily).

Nice. Have you published it on github or anything? I am migrating out of woocommerce too.
d
Unfortunately not, just built a very custom front end on an old stable version of Solidus and included it with the custom code.
v
No worries. Just knowing that is the way it is already helps a lot. Thanks.

If importing from Woo, heads up, need to make sure to integrate Spree::State search and match ISO numbers.

The solidus importer extension can be expanded to fit your needs. We've used it to import all kinds of stuff, including all kinds of product data from Shopify and non-Shopify systems.
it's fully extensible to import whatever you want.

Thanks. How about exporting from one solidus installation to another?
j
There's no community solution for that. What do you need that for?

Having a way to "clone" a customer environment and work on it. Or clone it partially. It is just the workflow that I was used to do. It can change.

Not exactly what you're describing, but we often have our staging environments automatically clone production periodically. We do this at the database level and exclude tables that contain sensitive data (orders, customers, payment methods, et cetera). Our development envs are then seeded from the staging environments. This ensures things like product data, shipping configurations, and promos are all synced across envs.

Thanks. That will work too.
