New promotion question: Who uses promotion actions to do something that is NOT create adjustments? Change quantities, create other line items, etc?
l
from what I remember, adding a free product was quite difficult to have it work properly in terms of financial report. Allso I thing detecting what was the product in the cart that was coming from the promotion was not strait forward

Interesting. We have a free sample feature as well, which we handle through a special controller action that adds it and a promotion that then discounts it. These items can't be edited by the user, so yep, feel you :D

We create line items and reduce other line items amount in order to make Bundle products work tax safe in the EU. I AM SO SORRY :D

@mamhoff just showed me an excellent extension that could fit our needs https://github.com/friendlycart/solidus_configurable_kits

There's also https://github.com/solidusio-contrib/solidus_product_assembly, which might work for your use case. Not sure if there's any strong difference between the two gems.

I know we're getting off topic for the thread, but I went with configurable kits over product assembly because I wanted to link a master product and let the customer choose the variant. That was the big difference that made product assembly not work for me
