Hello! Brand new to Solidus- just got it up and running on Ubuntu... rails will start but hitting the homepage gives me an Action Controller error because libvips.so.42 is not present. I see there's a defect from february about this, but I was not able to figure out how to work around it.

Have you installed lib vips on your system?

Just followed the setup from the Solidus site.

There's been some discussion about making sure to add that as an optional step, for people that need it. By default Solidus uses ActiveStorage, which requires imagemagick or libvips. You'll need to install that.

I see. Thank you. Scrolling back, I see that during the install, ruby-vips-2.1.4 attempted to install itself but encountered a lot of 'previous definition of xxxx was here' warnings.

Is ruby-vips the correct solution in this situation or should I also install libvips?

ruby-vips is the bindings to libvips, you still need libvips
