@Keshav Trehan, this is a violation right? I remember you encountered something similar. Sorry Upsana, don't know much about Google ads ( I'll be learning it this year, part of my new year's resolution) Coming to the SEO part, if you've got resources double down on everything that's already working for them. Get a list of all their best performing pages and content and get it done. Try to outrank them for all the pages that you don't have. Considering that you've got a decent domain age and search presence. This should not take much time.

Trademark your brand name. It's going to limit their impressions (by more than 80%) and ad eligibility

As long as you have a trademark registered for the name, it's a violation. Talk to your legal team and the Google team - they will help. If not, it's actually pretty legal to use the name in the ad copies. To combat you could 1) Double down on Organic efforts as @Sreeram Sharma pointed out. 2) if you have the budget run ads on your brand KW 3) If you have the budget run ads on your competition KW

Might be noob question but how do we identify from our end that whether trademark is registered for brand name or not?

Adding to this- 1. Trademarks work on a regional level. a. If you trademark it in India, it won't 2. Trademarks don't stop ads. They just increase CPC required. a. Not being able to use your name= Low quality score = Higher CPC required to rank + limited delivery. b. Running ads on your brand will make it MUCH more expensive for them. 3. They can try to miss spell your name and continue running ads with a lower CPC. a. This is a violation and you can & should report this.
