When you are leading product marketing, sales enablement, or GTM at an early stage...there is a lot going on🤯,
You struggle to build OKRs, prioritize the right stuff and build actionable strategies,
Don't get me started on the endless grind to convince the executive team about these strategies and ask for appropriate budgets.😔
Some tips on getting started:
👉𝟭. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺-
Allocate more and more time to the AEs to find out the pains, objections, aspirations, and buying preferences of each customer/account segment.
👉𝟮. 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘅 𝗯𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀/𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀-
When you are spending time with sales teams, make sure you help them by providing a good content backbone.
Think beyond the typical sales enablement playbook, and dig deep into how you can help the sales team solve their biggest challenges.
It might be Demand Gen, or might be increasing conversion rates or even shorter sales cycles.
Build self-serve demos, add/remove email sequences, assist them to build good quality relations with prospects, and help them amplify buying intent through use cases, testimonials, business case prep assistance docs, etc.
👉𝟯. 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗴𝘂𝘁-
If you have data, you have the eyes,
if you have proof, you have the buy-in.
Focus on using 1/10th or 1/3rd of the budget expectations to validate your theory and prepare a case that your executives would easily move towards without objections.
Don't waste weeks arguing about doing that webinar campaign, or that LinkedIn Campaign you think would be perfect...𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝑰𝒕!
