More context - Let’s say you have a keyword called - Kubernetes consulting. You have a dedicated page for it and ranking in top 10. Now if you write blogs like • Best Kubernetes consulting firms in the USA • Things to make sure of before hiring Kubernetes consulting firms? • How does outsourcing Kubernetes consulting work? Does writing blogs around the keyword help rank it higher?
v
A big YES. That's why niche blogs tend to outrank others.

Hey Vishal, a fan of your ABM campaign. The main objecting is to increase the rank of the main keyword. These blogs will help?

Thank you Prasad ♠️ Again, the answer is yes. Publish some high quality blogs around the seed keyword - Kubernetes consulting Topical authority is the key here: A mix of high quality blogs, tight interlinking & blogs focused towards user intent & SERP analysis Always good to start off with zero or low volume keywords. They help you gain initial traction around the category and building authority with minimal effort.

Hi Prasad! :) While you plan for more than one article pertaining to a keyword(s), do consider cannibalization that can happen. Although we now see Google displaying more than one result from the same domain, this still remains a problem at large. It’s always good to look at intent and create a cluster of keywords that will answer questions of users ranging from what is X to where can I buy X. Like Vishal said, interlinking the cluster will help you climb the positions from there on. Also, the anchor text of your internal link contribute to the queries you eventually end up ranking for. It’s best to maintain a record of these so you can avoid your pages competing with each other at any point. Hope it helps! Cheers.

This was the case until a while ago where you would write a lot of blogs on the same keyword but the search engine algorithm has moved away from doing keyword research to doing keyword clustering. Currently, creating a pillar page with all the keywords in a particular cluster and then creating cluster pages with individual keywords and lastly linking the cluster pages with the pillar page is the way to go. This will help you create topical authority and in turn help you rank higher. If you want to learn more, you can read this blog

my take is both pillar and content clustering work. Cannibalisation happens when each of your blogs talks about the same thing. So for example if you only talk about Kubernetes consulting in 10 blogs they will cannibalise and some might not even rank 🙀 However like @Vishal Pandurangan suggested, if you can come up with niche topics around Kubernetes consulting your blog domain as such will start ranking for that keyword. The pillar strategy on the other hand is good when you dont have too many variations to talk about. Suppose the topic is around a feature (eg Instagram API) - it would be better to create a pillar post around the topic that would start attracting more backlinks and improve your site analytics + have a higher probability to get referenced by folks on social. How to choose - understand/research if you have a larger keyword post your main phrase (kubernetes consulting for SME, kubernetes consulting for SaaS etc.). If they do and people do search for these then content clusters will work well. If nothing of that sorts exist then go for pillar IMO. (both the approach assumes you are creating high quality (meaningful, fresh/unique take and not a rehash) of other content out there. )
