Hahaa… I agree and hence I shared the other link. But let me speculate:
Hubspot seeks to appeal to Marketing audience (wrt this Flywheel essay) — maybe this is the clear stand they took for their audience (who knows, hence speculation). But their essay on this concept itself is very limiting and doesn’t capture the essence of it.
Both Flywheel, and PLG as concepts have been open to fine tuning (aka distortion) in their interpretations that often the actual essence is lost — and often limiting the very possibilities.
These need not apply to all SaaS — but in my ideal world all SaaS would strive to become bottom-up (even the enterprise ones) making the world a better place. (I personally despise companies that charge a ‘service’ fee as part of onboarding cough marketo)
