By default, the phone ringing lasts for 30000 milliseconds (30 seconds) . You can adjust this by setting `ring_duration_ms` to a lower value. The valid range is between 5000 and 300000 milliseconds (5 seconds to 5 minutes) . 

To fix this, update your agent configuration with a shorter `ring_duration_ms` value. [(2) ](<https://docs.retellai.com/api-references/update-agent>) For example, setting it to 10000 would make the phone ring for 10 seconds before the agent answers.
