@AI Evy I am using an extract variable global node and a boolean and once it says true or false, it just hangs and does not return to previous node like how condition is set for it, it doesn't say anything or do anything else once it reaches that

Thanks for tagging me @Davide Nicorescu. I'll look through relevant sources and get back to you shortly.
### Answer Based on the sources, Extract Dynamic Variable nodes are not designed for conversation flow—they're specifically for extracting and storing information as dynamic variables [(1) ]() . The node type you're using may be causing the hang because it's not intended to handle conversational transitions back to previous nodes . For boolean variables specifically, Retell AI supports dynamic variables as strings, not as booleans [(2) ]() . When working with boolean-like values, you should treat them as text strings ("true" or "false") rather than actual boolean types . For returning to a previous node after a global node interaction, you'll need to implement custom tracking logic. One approach is to define a variable like
last_node
in your first prompt node and update it across all prompt nodes to store the last node name or ID [(3) ]() . After the global node, use a branch node with prompt conditions that check the
last_node
value to redirect to the expected node . Note that equation conditions won't work with prompt-defined variables, and prompt-defined variables should not use
{{}}
. The Extract Dynamic Variable node supports these variable types: Text, Number, Enum, or Boolean [(1) ]() . However, given the string-based nature of dynamic variables in Retell AI, you may want to reconsider using an Enum type with options like "Yes" and "No" instead of a Boolean .

@AI Evy i changed it from global to not global with straight connections and it litterally still didn't continue it just stopped completeley even though it marks the variable outcome correctly

### Answer Based on the sources, there are several potential causes for your Extract Dynamic Variable node stopping the conversation flow: Extract Variable Node Behavior Extract Dynamic Variable nodes are designed to extract information and store it as dynamic variables, but they're not intended for having a conversation with the user [(1) ]() . This is a key limitation that could explain why your flow stops. Potential Extraction Failures The "Failed to extract dynamic variables" error can occur when [(2) ]() : - The tool call returned an empty response, null value, or timed out - The model response isn't valid JSON (extra text outside the JSON object) - There's a schema mismatch between what the extraction node expects and what was returned - The tool execution failed silently or never returned a result Preventing Extraction Issues To prevent extraction failures, especially with complex or lengthy inputs : - Set a max length in your prompt (e.g., "Please keep your answer under 500 words") - Force structured output (explicitly require valid JSON only) - Make the extraction schema very clear and simple - Add a fallback/validation step before extraction After Function Node Silence There was a known issue where Conversation Flow agents could stay silent after a function node when a function and response happened at the same time, due to a message order issue [(3) ]() . While this was resolved, it suggests timing-related issues can occur with extraction nodes. Since your variable is being marked correctly but the flow stops, verify that: 1. Your extraction node has a clear outgoing connectio
n to the next node 2. The variable description is simple and unambiguous 3. You're not hitting token/context limits with the extraction

@AI Evy my agent has been stopped from calling, says because of possible violation of terms of service, what is it violating, I had this problem before and then fixed the issue, now after a month or two it came back and i havent changed anything since i fixed it

### Answer I don't have specific information about why your agent was suspended or what triggered the Terms of Service violation flag. The available sources don't contain details about account suspension processes or specific violation triggers. However, based on Retell AI's Terms of Service, common violations include [(1) ]() : Telemarketing Compliance Issues: - Making AI-generated cold calls without obtaining prior express consent from recipients - Failing to disclose the use of AI-generated voices at the beginning of calls - Calling numbers on the Do Not Call (DNC) registry without proper consent - Not scrubbing phone numbers against DNC lists at least every 31 days Prohibited Uses: - Using the Services for unlawful purposes - Threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, libelous, deceptive, or fraudulent communications - Providing altered, deceptive, or false information about the sender's identity or call origin - Using AI voices without proper rights or consent FCC Requirements: - The FCC requires disclosure of AI-generated voices at the start of each call [(2) ]() - Prior express consent is mandatory before initiating AI-generated calls - Violations can result in significant fines (up to $43,792 per call for DNC violations) To resolve this, you should contact Retell AI support directly to understand the specific violation and get your account reinstated. They can provide details about what triggered the suspension and what steps you need to take. **
