@AI Evy Hi, we are not planning to use SMS for customer messaging. We only need our Retell number to receive a one-time verification code from Google Voice so we can link/forward a phone number to the Retell AI agent. Because of that, none of the listed A2P use cases seems to fit our real use case. Could you please confirm: 1. Whether a Retell-managed number can receive a one-time Google Voice verification SMS for this purpose 2. Whether we need full SMS/A2P registration for that 3. If registration is required, which use case should be selected for a receive-only verification scenario Thank you.

Thanks for tagging me @alamin6486. I'll look through relevant sources and get back to you shortly.
### Answer Based on the available documentation, I can address your questions about receiving SMS on Retell numbers: 1. Receiving SMS on Retell Twilio Numbers Receiving SMS during calls works out of the box for Retell Twilio numbers without requiring the A2P application process. [(1) ]() This suggests that basic SMS receiving functionality is available on Retell-managed numbers without additional setup. 2. A2P Registration Requirements The A2P application and approval process (business profile, brand registration, and SMS campaign) is specifically described as "a prerequisite for sending SMS from your own number during calls and setting up two way SMS conversations." The documentation explicitly states that "receiving SMS during calls works out of the box for Retell Twilio numbers without this step." 3. Use Case Selection Since you only need to receive a verification code (not send messages) , the full A2P registration process should not be required based on the documentation's distinction between receiving and sending capabilities. However, I recommend reaching out to Retell support to confirm whether receiving a Google Voice verification SMS specifically falls under the "receive-only" scenario that doesn't require A2P registration, as this particular use case isn't explicitly documented. @AI Evy Hi, I reviewed your SMS setup documentation. Our use case is not customer messaging. We only need our Retell-managed number to receive a one-time Google Voice verification code so we can link/forward a phone number. Since your SMS campaign flow asks for the real use case and sample messages we intend to send, I want to confirm the correct path before submitting anything. Could you please confirm: 1. Whether a Retell-managed number can receive a one-time inbound Google Voice verification SMS for this purpose 2. Whether full SMS/A2P setup is required for this receive-only scenario 3. If setup is required, what use case we should select and what we should write so the application accurately reflects our actual use case Thank you.

Thanks for the follow-up, @alamin6486. I'll get back to you soon.
### Answer Based on the available documentation, I can provide clarification on receiving SMS with Retell numbers: 1. Receiving SMS on Retell-Managed Numbers The documentation states that agents can "receive SMS during an active call and understand the content, including text, images, audio, and video." This works out of the box for Retell Twilio numbers. [(1) ]() 2. A2P Requirements for Receive-Only The documentation indicates that receiving SMS during calls works for Retell Twilio numbers without requiring the A2P application process. However, for custom telephony numbers, this requires "passed A2P applications." 3. Use Case Selection The documentation doesn't explicitly address receiving one-time verification codes from third-party services like Google Voice outside of an active call context. Since your specific scenario (receiving a Google Voice verification SMS for number forwarding setup, not during an active call) isn't directly covered in the available documentation, I recommend contacting Retell support directly to confirm: - Whether this receive-only verification scenario requires A2P registration - If registration is needed, which use case category would be appropriate for your situation Check out these potentially useful sources: [Send SMS]()
