My Retell AI voice agent fails to capture user date phrases like "next Friday" or "13th of February" from speech. Instead of passing the exact words (eg, {"date_text": "next Friday"}) to my resolve_datetool, it sends literal placeholders like {{date_text}}or {{date}}. The tool then defaults to "tomorrow," breaking the entire flow for Google Calendar bookings and event lookups. Key Test Proof: API endpoint directly: Works perfectly! Fetches correct events with proper date. Agent calls it: Always defaults to "tomorrow" because of the placeholder issue. What I've Tried (All Failed): Used both {{date}}and {{date_text}}in tool config System prompt: "Extract user's exact date phrase and pass as date_textparameter - no placeholders!" Remove {{date_text}}from Query Parameters to empty or use a proper description
Or if you want the LLM to directly resolve the query parameter, the value field should contain a description of what to extract, not a placeholder in parentheses.

The value fields? For example callers says 20th of February, I should put a description of 20th of February in the field?

Also mentioned in the global prompt. E.g. "After user provided a date, invoke tool extract_date' to covert it to ... format" You can test and adjust the prompt to get best output. Hope this would help!
