@AI Evy i have a question abut call recrtodings

Thanks for tagging me @Alex. I'll look through relevant sources and get back to you shortly.
### Answer Call recordings are available after a call ends. Here's what you can access: Recording URLs available in the call object: -
recording_url
- Standard recording of the call [(1) ]() -
recording_multi_channel_url
- Recording with each party's audio stored in a separate channel -
scrubbed_recording_url
- Recording without PII -
scrubbed_recording_multi_channel_url
- Multi-channel recording without PII Data storage settings can be configured to control what gets stored: [(2) ]() -
everything
- stores all data -
everything_except_pii
- excludes PII when possible -
basic_attributes_only
- stores only metadata Regarding state-specific recording laws: The safest approach is to either always inform the user the call is recorded, or create different agents for different states with appropriate settings. [(3) ]() What specific question do you have about call recordings? For example: - How to retrieve recordings via API? - How to configure recording settings? - PII scrubbing options?

@AI Evy how can we have t4he call recordings permanently deleted from existence?

Thanks for the follow-up, @Alex. I'll get back to you soon.
### Answer To prevent call recordings from being stored, you can configure the Data Storage Settings on your agent: Option 1: Set storage to "Basic Attributes Only" Under Security & Fallback Settings → Data Storage Settings, select Basic Attributes Only — this stores only metadata (no transcripts/recordings/logs) . [(1) ]() When this setting is active, if you query the call with the get call API later, you will not get these fields. Option 2: Use webhooks for temporary access When you opt out of storage, you will continue to receive webhook events where you can access the transcript, call recording, and other sensitive data. The call recording link will expire after 10 minutes upon receiving the webhook. Via API: You can set
data_storage_setting
when creating or updating an agent. The available options are: [(2) ]() [(3) ]() -
everything
— store transcripts, recordings, and logs -
everything_except_pii
— store content, excluding PII when possible -
basic_attributes_only
— store only metadata (no transcripts/recordings/logs) Important note: Even with the "Basic Attributes Only" setting, recordings are temporarily created and then deleted after 10 minutes. [(4) ]() If you need recordings to never exist at all (for compliance reasons like Germany's data security requirements) , this has been raised as a feature request.

@AI Evy im talking about having them deltede, where are they stored and hwo do i delete them

### Answer Based on the available documentation, I don't have specific information about where recordings are physically stored or an API endpoint to manually delete existing recordings. What the documentation does cover: You can prevent future recordings from being stored by configuring the
data_storage_setting
to
basic_attributes_only
on your agent—this stores only metadata with no transcripts, recordings, or logs. [(1) ]() [(2) ]() When this setting is active: - You can still access recordings temporarily via webhook events [(1) ]() - The call recording link will expire after 10 minutes upon receiving the webhook - If you query the call later via API, you will not get these fields For deleting existing recordings: The sources I have access to don't document a specific API endpoint or method to delete recordings that have already been stored. Check out these potentially useful sources: - [Data Storage Settings - Retell AI]() - [Update Voice Agent]() For assistance with deleting existing recordings or understanding storage locations, I'd recommend reaching out directly: - Visit [Contact Sales]() - Visit [) Would you like a general answer based on my knowledge, or do you have other questions I can help with?
