For **Conversation Flow agents**, there isn't a built-in way to fetch live transcripts during the call. [(1) ](<https://discord.com/channels/1186424376300679209/1285782731787210832>)

Live transcript streaming is available when using a **Custom LLM** setup. With Custom LLM, Retell sends `update_only` events via the LLM WebSocket that include the complete live transcript as the call progresses. [(2) ](<https://docs.retellai.com/api-references/llm-websocket>)

The `update_only` event contains:
- `transcript` - Complete live transcript collected in the call so far, presented as a list of utterances 
- `transcript_with_tool_calls` - Transcript weaved with tool call invocations and results (when enabled in config) 

If you need live transcripts, you would need to switch to a Custom LLM approach where you host your own LLM server and receive these WebSocket events. 

For Conversation Flow agents, you can retrieve the full transcript **after** the call ends using the Get Call API, which returns `transcript`, `transcript_object`, and `transcript_with_tool_calls` fields. [(3) ](<https://docs.retellai.com/api-references/get-call>)
