@AI Evy can you point me into a tutorial or anything that can explain how multi prop agents actually work because I've tried a ton of different ways and and the logs it's just not transferring from one state to the next The problem I'm trying to solve is that the agent needs a tool to get the current date and time at the beginning of every call because otherwise it doesn't know what date it is, which make booking appointments impossible from my POV. What's the use case for multiprompt versus single prompt I can't seem to find any documentation stating that.

### Answer ## Multi-Prompt vs Single-Prompt Agents Single Prompt is best for simple, straightforward conversations, quick prototypes, agents with 1-3 functions, and linear conversation flows. [(1) ]() Multi-Prompt is recommended when your single prompt exceeds 1000 words or uses more than 5 functions. As complexity increases, single prompt agents may experience behavioral drift, unreliable function calling, and context confusion. Multi-prompt agents organize conversations into a structured tree of states, each with its own focused prompt, state-specific functions, transition logic, and context preservation. ## State Transitions To transition between states, define the logic directly in your prompt. For example: [(2) ]()
7. Ask if user is interested in an in person tour.
 - if yes, transition to schedule_tour.
 - if no or hesitant, call function end_call to hang up politely and say will reach out if any other interesting properties pop up.
If transitions aren't firing reliably, try using emphatic language in your prompt such as: "Immediately and reliably initiate the transfer. You must invoke the [function] at this point without fail. This is critical and non-negotiable." [(3) ]() ## Video Tutorial There's a video tutorial available in the documentation: [Build a multi-prompt agent]() [(2) ]() ## Regarding Date/Time for Appointments For calling a function at the beginning of a call (like getting current date/time) , you can define when to call functions in your prompt:
3. Confirm the date, time, and timezone selected by user: "Just to confirm, you want to book the appointment at ...". Make sure this is a time from the available slots.
4. Once confirmed, call function book_appointment to book the appointment.
You would need to set up a custom function that retrieves the current date/time and ensure your first state's prompt instructs the agent to call it immediately. [(3) ]()
