@AI Evy Good day I want to ask if it is possible to port a GHL number into Retell
a
Thanks for tagging me @Volvo. I'll look through relevant sources and get back to you shortly.
### Answer Good day! I don't have specific documentation about porting numbers directly from GoHighLevel (GHL) into Retell. However, based on the available sources, here's what I can share: - You can import numbers via SIP trunk from providers like Twilio into Retell [(1) ]() - There was a similar question about porting from Number Barn, asking whether it needs to go through Twilio first [(2) ]() General guidance: If GHL uses Twilio as its underlying telephony provider, you may be able to port the number to a Twilio elastic SIP trunk first, then import it into Retell. The process would involve: 1. Setting up an elastic SIP trunk in Twilio [(1) ]() 2. Moving your number to that trunk 3. Importing the number to Retell with the termination SIP URI For a definitive answer on GHL-specific porting, I'd recommend reaching out to Retell support directly: - [Contact Sales]() Would you like me to provide a general answer based on my knowledge, or do you have more details about your GHL setup?

### Answer Based on my general knowledge, here's how you could approach porting a GHL (GoHighLevel) number into Retell: General Approach: GoHighLevel typically uses Twilio as its underlying telephony provider. If that's the case, the process would involve: 1. Port the number from GHL to your own Twilio account – You'd need to initiate a port request through Twilio to transfer the number ownership from GHL's Twilio sub-account to your own Twilio account. 2. Set up Elastic SIP Trunking in Twilio – Create a SIP trunk, configure termination (for outbound) and origination (for inbound) settings. [(1) ]() 3. Configure origination to point to Retell – Set Retell's SIP server address as the origination SIP URI:
sip:sip.retellai.com
4. Move the number to the SIP trunk – Assign your ported number to the elastic SIP trunk in Twilio. 5. Import the number into Retell – Provide the termination SIP URI and any authentication credentials.
Copy code
javascript
import Retell from 'retell-sdk';
const client = new Retell({
  apiKey: 'YOUR_RETELL_API_KEY',
}) ;
const phoneNumberResponse = await client.phoneNumber.import({
  phone_number: '+14157774444',
  termination_uri: 'someuri.pstn.twilio.com',
}) ;
console.log(phoneNumberResponse.inbound_agent_id) ;
[(2) ]() Important Note: The porting process from GHL to Twilio is handled outside of Retell and depends on GHL's policies and Twilio's porting procedures. You'd want to confirm with GHL support whether they allow number porting out of their platform. For specific guidance on your situation, I'd recommend contacting [Retell Sales]() .

I have found that twillio is very epensive when running it with RetellAI as charge for the first full minute, even if you only use 5 seconds. I found another provider that only charges by the second, I use n8n with RetellAI and GHL to get the calls into GHL. GHL will not transcribe the call recordings so I put the transcript into the notes
