Hi, is there anyone in the community who is familiar with background check process, especially the HR’s side of things? 👋

Dont-ask-to-ask 🙂 Go ahead, ask you actual Q. What is it that you wanted to get clarified? (anyone who knows will respond in the thread)

Sure sure, I thought to connect over DM due to the nature of question (but can share toned down version). I wanted to check in case: (a) if it is a red flag to have the process ongoing for ~1 month? (b) how much I can help the team to get a few items verified, because they are unable to? example, connecting with ex-manager, etc. (c) are the decisions usually binary or the report is discussed back with the candidates?

(a). Some companies enjoy having folks on their waitlist ready to join. Sometimes at large companies recruiters continue to interview even when there are no openings/intention to hire immediately. (b). 1 month of silence is significant. If you haven't heard back from them, you can always email/call your recruiter/contact asking if there is any hold-up. (c). I have never had an employer formally discuss with me any feedback i received from the references i provided them. However, after being hired, i have seen team-mates discuss such things informally.
