Hi Everyone, I am stuck in dealing with a builder(booked an apartment in 2016). The work got stuck for 1.5 years pre-covid the builder has used that covid advantage and increased timelines in RERA. When work was stuck and it was 2019 we were asked to pay some amount as worked was stuck we negotiated with builder that we would pay some amount and rest will be paid on possession. Even after having all in written the builder has sent demand now for possession which includes interests because of delayed payments. It is really stressful for entire family. Any suggestion on how to go about resolving the issue will be really helpful. Any person knows a good lawyer who has dealt with such situation and can share contact will help us a lot. RERA is almost toothless in all almost all states. Only a lawyer can help you in this. The builder charging interest payment is wrong and is a tool from his end to show his power. A good lawyer can help to lodge a case in Consumer Forum. It will be a long battle, but worth fighting to get your money/house back. A lot of builders have used Covid as an excuse to delay the possessions of the house. Even I faced delay in possession but that was a genuine reason. If you have taken a loan from bank, then ask the bank officials if then they can help in any way. An official complaint at some authority/politician maybe helpful as well.
