Hey, does anyone do freelance webdev? Or has done it in the past? How to start and where? Also, are there any restrictions on it if you are already a full time employee?
a
Does your employer have any restrictions on it?
If not, just be open with your future clients that you have a full time job .... some people take up another 40hr/week freelancing gig along with a normal 8-5 gig and ruin both
f
So any kind of such restriction should be on the employer agreement?
Also, is upwork a good option? And do people provide their work exp. Details on such platforms?
a
So employers have an exclusivity clause which prohibits you from working for other firms/clients while you are working for the aforementioned employer
Yeah.... upwork has a vetting process that looks at your previous history and your work inside and outside the platform will have an impact on your success rate
@worried-librarian-12856 , @colossal-rocket-18368 and few others have quite a bit of experience on upwork
I would suggest Toptal, but its also not a sure shot like they suggest.... @calm-grass-85557 mentioned that he didn't find his time on the platform very eventful

Upwork is a good option to start. It is easy to register on the platform as a freelancer. The number of jobs posted on the platform is very large as compared to other platforms. And a freelancer works directly with the client and only Payment is handled by Upwork. Because of the number of freelancers and clients, it takes some time to start.
