Damn. One one hand, this is the right move by stripe. On the other hand, sucks for businesses based out of India. Wonder what the shopping cart abandonment rates will be like now.

What does 3DS mean for customers and the UX?

you'll have to go the 2fa flow

For me, I mostly use stripe's built-in checkout page. So it handles the 2FA flow. For others using stripe elements(?) on their page, I dunno if additional work needs to be done to incorporate the 2FA flow.

Ah what's 2fa flow for payments?

SMS OTP i guess

Isn't less fraud good for one though? What's the real impact here, seeing some severe reactions on Twitter

Every extra step in user journey has few users dropping. Also SMS is not 100% delivery and some banks internationally use passwords and not SMS which is even more friction. Roughly speaking 1st factor is you having a valid card. 2nd factor is identifying if the correct person is using it. Modern systems have lot of data and fraud detection pieces that 2fa is usually not required and fraud is manageable

@icy-librarian-70729 Would like to get your thoughts on this. Will setting up the company in Delaware avoid this?
