Standing Desks.. worth it? And what are any recommendations in the indian context? A simple search is surfacing everything above 30k+.. Motorized or hand cranked? Please advise.

Really depends on person to person. I stand like 70% of the time so I think the 38K I spent on my desk was worth every penny. While some others here have mentioned they don't use their standing desk. Do note that if you buy a standing desk, also purchase a standing mat/anti-fatigue mat. Otherwise your legs will start hurting after an hour or so. I recommend Desqoo's smartdesk. While I am convinced a standing desk from an online retailer, say, desqooo, is a good investment - if you're based in Delhi, you can go to the Mayapuri furniture market and get yourself a motorised desk in a much lower budget and a desk that can be customised to your specifications too. For example, you have a simple setup and not too many things on your desk? Get a single motor desk which will be lighter and cheaper. Move your desk often? Get wheels attached to the desk that lock it in place when you're working but can be moved by unlatching the lock. If you're not in Delhi, most tier 1/ tier 2 cities have a furniture market where you can get these desks too.

If you are buying one, buy motorised. Many people stop using even motorised ones, so guess you'll stop using hand cranked much sooner.

I use a folding laptop table on top of my desk when I have to stand to work (which is 100% of the time now). My Samsung monitor tilts, so that helps a lot too.

Thanks for the recommendation TJ, going to get this desk! I'm gravitating towards the Black Wooden 150x60cm, which size and color did you folks go for?

I got 150x60cm and upgraded the table top to marine plywood (Rs. 4k extra) If I had to do it again, I would definitely go for 150x75cm, but that's just my personal choice. The 150x60cm top is quite huge already. I wanted an even larger desk because this is my home office workspace so it would be nice to be able to keep all needed items on my desk. Especially as I get more monitors, Xbox and additional equipment I'd recommended you to use a measuring tape and see how well the desk would fit in your room.

Yeah. It's the same for me. Sometimes I may stand all day. Other times, I sit 80% of the time. I keep switching things up depending on how my feet are feeling 🐾
