Hey folks, happy to announce that I have finally pushed the launch button on a side project that I have been working on. Hoping to work on the marketing copy and other stuff over the course of the next few days (advise, tips & tricks appreciated) -- but for now, the product is live and it works well.
ListenLater.in
Listen later is a service that creates a private podcast for you -- for articles that you don't have time to read (but would love to listen to). It uses rich, neural voices and and you can have your article added to your podcast app within a minute or so.

will get you a free trial or 50% off on the starter pack (limited quantities). The interface is super simple and for a bunch of stuff, I defer to the email. I am using Gumroad for payments (for now) and if you get the trial or the starter pack and it does not show up immediately, give it a minute or so -- sometimes Gumroad does not send it's webhook immediately (especially for Paypal payments). Refresh the page after a bit and it should show up. Please feel free to DM me for any queries or if anything is confusing / not working for you.
Tech Stack
If you are curious about the tech stack, it is a Vuejs 3 front end hosted on netlify and the backend is node + mongo hosted on railway.app (Thanks to Faraz for giving me the heads up on railway. Has massively simplified deployment). Payments is on Gumroad for now - but we'll see how it goes - again substantially simple to setup even though it is expensive for India. (Gumroad cut + Stripe fees + Paypal conversion fees).

If you had signed up as one of the early (alpha) users, I have migrated your accounts - so your old accounts should work. Let me know if it is not working for you.

@loud-glass-33663 - Did you move to the new pricing plan from Gumroad?
l
@hundreds-winter-88791 - not yet. I feel I need to sell a bit more for it to make sense. Plus on this side project journey, I am at a place where I am looking for my first set of sales & marketing. I think once that is done, I’ll be in a better frame of mind to evaluate the pros and cons. For now, I just calculated briefly whether I should go with their $10 or free plan and I decided to stick to the free plan until I have some $X worth of sales every month (Don’t remember the value of X at the moment but I have written it somewhere). Eventually though, (and hopefully), I feel if this starts making some money, I’ll move from Gumroad to Stripe directly. Stripe is quicker if you are doing one time purchases (which I have done now). Eventually will look at subscriptions. Do you have a recommendation?
h
I don't think their new tiered commission structure makes sense. So wanted to check if I am alone in thinking that. Free, and upgrade to $10/month whenever it makes sense, makes a lot more sense to me.
l
Yep. I agree with that. When I read their upgrade email, I had the same opinion - it did not make sense for me and my kind of businesses at all β€” but I am guessing there is a segment somewhere which will benefit from them.
m
Congratulation & good luck. It looks amazing. Gonna give it a try this weekend.

Thanks @calm-grass-85557 😊 Soon. Hopefully. Just polishing a few things and I have received a bunch of feedback (low hanging fruit) that I need to tackle.
