Hi Everyone, I have received an contract job offer from a European startup. I would like to thank everyone in this community who has helped me and helping others as well. Wouldn't be possible without you guys. This is my first job with an international company on a contract basis so I want to know before signing the contract what all things I should check/consider in the contract. A few things I am checking are: 1. Notice Period 2. Leaves(working days) 3. Salary ( would like to know more about this since there are various components).

Congratulations. If it is a fixed-term contract, you'll need to invoice them monthly, right? In that case, you control how much time you take off, within reason. If it is a pseudo-contractual job, where they have hired you on a permanent contract but have no presence in India (hence the contract), then you should ask for 5 weeks vacation (EU standard).

@helpful-gigabyte-47939 Thanks for responding. It's a pseudo-contractual job. They are a remote-first company registered in the UK. I have negotiated for 5 sick leaves and 11 holidays. I am a little doubtful about this but will ask them whether I can/should get 5 weeks vacation.

You should also talk about contribution matching to pension. It usually maxes out at 7% for employer contribution. You could open up an NPS account and contribute your own share and ask the company to match it and send them monthly proof if needed. Then there could be a one-time remote setup bonus to allow you to get a nice desk, chair, router, etc. Around (1000-2000 USD). This is separate from the laptop cost which I assume they will bear. I haven't worked for an Indian company in a loonnng time but I run one now and 11 days leaves sounds too less to me (We have a need-it-take-it leave policy).
