do we’ve anyone who’s employer let them work 4-days a week? How has life changed with the switch from 5days to 4days week gig? I’ve noticed the salaries are usually less for companies with 4 days work week, is that true for all the companies?

I know someone who works 4 days a week and takes a 3 day weekend (Fri - Sun) and travels A LOT. Haven't done it personally but there is now a movement of 4-day work week companies. See: https://4dayweek.io/remote-jobs and People first jobs: https://peoplefirstjobs.com/

@enough-guitar-44014 wow! that’s amazing!! I’m assuming you work as a freelancer for handpicked multiple clients rather than working as a contractor for a particular company? https://remoteindian.slack.com/archives/CFKUPJZ7W/p1638162932432600?thread_ts=1638161860.432500&cid=CFKUPJZ7W

Yes, I work for 2-3 clients only at max.

I used to work only 20 hours/ week. Honestly, it was lovely. I would only work 2-3 hours a day at max. Rest of the time I would travel, read, meet people. Recently I’ve switched to 30/40 hours/ week since I’m not really travelling anymore. At least for few months

3 day work week. Wed-Fri. Rest of the time varies week from week. I read, tinker or just chill depending on how I am feeling.

@dry-monkey-93718 Are you freelancing or employed with 1 company / contractor.

Freelancer* with 1 company. Not an employee. I do not take multiple clients.

If you're thinking of trying it out, go for it! Worst case, you feel bored and go back to 5 day weeks. And yes, it doesn't pay as much as full week. But if you're a freelancer, you usually get paid more than an employee (as you take more risk). So it's not too bad either. Think of it as paying to buy back your time for a while.

One of my friend just went part time (Mon-Wed) with his employer (after working full time with them for almost two years) And it's really amazing for him Drawing 2/3rd of his previous salary but using his time to build side projects and chilling.
