If anyone is looking for an external webcam, just buy the Mi TV Webcam without any hesitation! I ordered two webcams before this with disappointing results (under a budget of 3000). But this thing is almost like a normal phone camera!! It's a lot better than 2021 MacBook Pro webcam. Looks great too, and it's very small. The only con may be that the wide angle is a little too much but you can disable HD in zoom and it changes to 4:3 ratio. (Image quality remains the same) It is available on the Mi.com website for 2000 INR.

I know of apps like this, rishi. There is Droidcam which has existed for years. I feel like this is a great backup option but I cannot use this as a permanent solution 😛

Will give this a try, I don't like to use my primary phone or camera as a webcam, I like dedicated solutions 😄

yup.. using this for a couple of months now.. another con wrt MBPs is that it’s USB A.. so needs a dongle.. but i guess expecting usbc at 2k is a bit much. Really nice and simple webcam for 2k.

@rich-shoe-15139 It has a USB-C port, I just plugged a c to c cable and it works.

I have used Droidcam and have a Redragon Hitman external camera. I have used Logitech higher end camera too and I think nothing beats low light capabilities of a phone. I still use the Redragon daily but it needs so much light. My Redmi Note 8 Pro camera could work even in a dimly lit cafe and deliver clear video. @adamant-judge-51663 how is the low light performance of Mi camera?

It's great! Comparable to a 15-20k phone's front camera (without the beauty effects)

@adamant-judge-51663 why would one use a phone's front camera? When used it with a laptop, it is usually the primary back camera being used.

I received this camera today, the lighting and color is great! What's not great is the autofocus ability. It just doesn't seem to be able to focus on my face.

Because it's a TV camera, the focus is set to a little farther than usual. It didn't bug me much because my monitor is at a little distance, maybe yours isn't?

My monitor is placed 5 feet away

Yes, it’s designed for TVs. But the point is that no other webcam in the price range comes close.
