Is remotive slack community worth the price to join? https://remotive.io/community
p
I'm a member and tbh, I did not feel it was worth it! I paid the lifetime price so it'll be a good source of job posts till I require one but the community is not as engaging as this one or others I am part of. Its still a very good source for job postings though

Not at all. Like Jatin mentioned it is not even 1% as engaging as this one. I agree on the job postings though but I guess you could find them here too - https://remotive.io/remote-jobs I don't think you need to be subscribed to view this

Thank You! folks, I will skip paying for that.

Not worth it. I have a lifetime membership but no longer visit the Slack channel. Very little signal to noise ratio.

Actually, I should amend my answer. It depends... If you are in the middle of an active job hunt, the price may be worth it. However, if you are looking for a community, then no. I have discussed this a lot with Abhishek as well but if you start charging people to be part of a community that provides pointers to remote jobs, you are basically sending a wrong signal. People feel entitled to simply consume and not contribute -- which is the culture with remotive. But if you are actively looking for a job, then it may be worth it. Sometimes being early to a newly posted job makes all the difference. YMMV.

@loud-glass-33663 Thank You! for the detailed answer. I am currently in the middle of a job search. Can I speak to the hiring managers directly there typically? or is just a notification service? I will stick to the RSS feed if it's just notifications and not much support in other front

@rough-application-24965 and others who are interested, I have recorded about a min of scrolling of the Remotive Slack
jobs
board - so you can make a better decision. Most of the jobs posted here link to their job board. So I am guessing you don't need to be there. But there are some posted directly by the people recruiting -- maybe 1 post every other day.

@powerful-planet-56851 could you recommend other communities similar to this one?

@rough-application-24965 Have you looked at https://remoteleaf.com/? If you are specifically looking for jobs, Remote Leaf and Yellow Jobs could be useful to get started.

@calm-grass-85557 I was mostly looking at the default portals(weworkremotely, remoteok, remotive etc..), I will keep an eye on these too

@narrow-dusk-77793 Lenny Rachitsky's slack for product is at probably similar or more levels of engagement that comes to mind.
