Hey all, I had taken HDFC Optima Restore with 25L (~20k premium) coverage last year. Renewal is up next month and HDFC folks contacted me and pushed this plan. https://www.hdfcergo.com/health-insurance/optima-super-secure-plan-individual The 25L plan has a room rent limit (Single private room) but 50L+ plans have no limits. They also have 15k health checkup benefits every year (Restore only has 5k). From their site and agents, seems like a 50L plan is equivalent for 2Cr for first year, grows by 25L each year to 2.5Cr in 2Years. 50L plan costs 24k/year for Optima restore and 53k for 3years in Super Secure. The only con ditto guy said is that it's a new policy, so they can't be sure of settlement metrics. The medical checkup costs alone (15x3 = 45k) makes up a good chunk of premium of 53k. Any suggestions?

I have last week contacted Beshak.org for Health insurance advisory and I also got 3 recommendations and HDFC Ergo Optima Restore is one of them. I am yet to decide and have a call with them next week. I also got comparison with optima secure also. Let attach that sheet and see if that helps. Do cross check later if details are correct or not

Siddharth are you sure your current Optima Restore plan has room limits? I bought the policy 6 months back and took same policy as yours without any room limit. This does seem like a new plan and looks much better too (cost wise and benefits wise). HDFC anyways charges a premium compared to other providers and service shouldn’t differ that much across plans, so I wouldn’t be too worried about this new plan for settlements. Have you ever taken health checkup? Can you get Ultrasound and Chest XRay as a benefit? Otherwise no preventative healthcheck with only blood and urine tests will ever cross 5k in any city

@loud-artist-61521 Optima restore doesn't have room limit. Optima super secure has Single AC room limit for plans <50L. As for health checkup, we can do in any lab and they'll reimburse the money is what their agent told me. But that is only after 1 year. I had contacted a doctor using their own free teleclinic and he prescribed these tests as standard.

Apologies, read it wrong. Your 25L restore plan also has no claim bonus which in 2 years should take you to 50L cover. And since this plan is only for 1 person; I think 25L/50L cover is more than enough and covers ‘Suite’ rooms in big metro corporate hospitals staffed with expensive surgeons if you ever need it. My reason for going with this plan and not say a 10L comprehensive base plan with a super-top up with room limits. 2.5Cr is absurdly large number for a medical expense tbh, but does happen in rare/extreme cases [rare Cancer/Severe Accident to name a few]. Your call as to what you want to prioritize [Rare but full coverage, More likely but no questions asked policy]. Would love to hear from others though. Also would love to get a general update on your experience of the reimbursements of that health checkup. Your doctor prescribed tests are comprehensive and what is usually recommended for younger males.

If settlement metrics are not clear, then don't take it. Also look at ditto.in for comparison and they can also explain the exclusions here

@loud-artist-61521 Yup, this was exactly why I went with the previous plan too. But the new plan seems to be cheaper (final rate is 51.5k for 3 years), with more benefits. Even the old plan renewed for 3 years would be around 60k. Let's see how this goes. (Well, hope I don't have to though) 😂
