Hi Tribe, Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of the school boards among CBSE, IB and Cambridge and which one you suggest? I can see in the internet, but it seems too generic and nothing is clear. I would like to know from the parent perspective who are actually gone through this selection phase and also from a student who studied IB/Cambridge curriculum. Thanks
Hi Saurabh, If you have any idea, pls help me with this. @loud-glass-33663

Hi @creamy-printer-42807 I would be the wrong person to ask because we couldn't find any pros with any boards 🤷 Which is why we are running our own board-less school in Pune 🙂
c
Well, I asked you because I remember your earlier chat about the school you are running. 🙂
l
Yeah - but I won't be able to provide you with an un-biased perspective. 🙃

No problem. It would be very helpful if you connect me to someone who can answer this. Even if no one is available, no worries.

<rant> Basically the issue with all boards (CBSE, IB, Cambridge, SSC, etc) is that they all mandate that: 1. All children of the same age MUST study the same stuff (why?) 2. All children need to learn at the same pace (teacher covers X curriculum in Y days). (why?) 3. That children are incapable of mostly teaching themselves. They are empty vessels and an adult needs to fill them with knowledge. 4. Children are discouraged from moving beyond syllabus. For example, if you have a gifted math student, she will be bored going at the pace of the class. 5. Marks are important. All teachers teach to the exam instead to inculcate a joy of learning or curiosity. I can go on and on ... Hence, if you really want the best for your children, you are better off homeschooling them than sending them to a board-affiliated school. Most schools are run for business. You can imagine the cost of starting a school -- it can literally go into 100s of crores for an IB school. You can only imagine where their loyalties lie. I am not against making money from schooling. Not at all. I am against my children being treated as invoices and receipts. </rant>

I can't deny this facts, but we don't have choices. 🤷‍♂️

In that case, I would put my child in the school closest to my house. If you have money to spare, you can put them in an IB board school. Else, the school with the least amount of commute required.

Gotcha. Thank you 😊
