Hey folks. I am looking at a project where I want to keep things super simple. Basically I really want to avoid having to go back and update packages regularly - so want to keep frameworks to a minimum. It is a fairly basic project as well (CRUD for 1 object with a list & details page. And admin to enter details in the backend). Was thinking of suggesting Node + Express + HTML with a templating engine instead of going with something like Vue for the front end. Anyone else built something like this? Simple, non-single-page application recently? (Can't believe I am asking this question when I come from a time when all apps used to be non-single-page 😬) Anything I should be aware of / watch out for? What tools / stacks would you use to turn this around?
It is mostly a CRUD application - with a homepage, list page, details page and an admin section to update stuff in the backend. Backend is going to have an email based login with magic link to keep it simple. DB, I am looking at Mongo but a SQL DB would probably work as well. The plan is to either self host the MongoDB + Node application on the same container (AWS or Lightsail) -- or then use something like Railway - which provides a good MongoDB solution without charging an arm and leg. I don't have a LOT of experience deploying node projects - so any advice is appreciated. Traffic at max would not go to more than maybe 200 page views / day. So scalability is not a concern. Keeping things simple so that it can continue to chug along without regular patches is the top most priority.

From reading through your requirements of a homepage, object list page, object detail page and admin login for object's CRUD then I think you should definitely go with Django. You will avoid the dependency hell of node packages plus with Django, it's very easy to build that in a day or two.

Python's environment are relatively stable and easy to manage.
Django is server side and it automatically generates a pretty decent UI for your admin side.

You may wanna replace the whole backend (maybe even FE) with a headless CMS like Strapi if it's just CRUD on one entity.

Yep. Seems like a Django job to me.

Given the scale, you can also explore no-code tools and ship in 2 hours.

Prisma + Prisma studio (almost like a admin dashboard)+ svelte / remix does this well

I don’t have much experience with other technologies, But Rails with Active Admin gem, might be fastest way to set up and running.

Looks like job for Django that can do it over a weekend.

Felt like same as Rails. I guess the frameworks like Rails, Laravel, Django having similar advantages. Good to know. @cuddly-teacher-92140 @strong-evening-37474
