Hello folks! A friend of mine has been working from home, but office is in Pune. Now when he went for passport renewal he was asked for a address proof of Pune along with the home/permanent address proof. When the person said, he has been working from home and not has been in Pune since COVID started, the officials asked for a work from home certificate to be presented. I'm hearing about this document for the first time, Do any of you folks have clue on this?

Why does the workplace matter? Sorry I haven't been through the passport process for years now.

I am also not sure too, feels very weird why do they need to have details of workplace. The official is turning out to be totally not cooperating.

Is he applying for a passport in Pune? Sorry it was not very clear from your message. I have heard of the Work from home certificate being asked by some embassies for visa, etc. but for a passport, it is not required. At all. Employment status has no bearing.

I applied for passport renewal recently , aadhar card address is of Bangalore , I was applying passport in raipur , they asked me to write the letter there that due to COVID situation I am working from home . They accepted the same .

Yes, the friend too is applying from the Raipur PSK. Seems like this is Raipur PSK specific but not sure why they need it.

I'd say even if it is slightly demeaning, it is not worth the fight. Get the letter and get the passport. It lasts 10 years and hopefully for renewal, it would be much easier 🤞

Rightly said @loud-glass-33663, not worth the fight - the friend asked for the format of letter and would be visiting with it at a later date. Not much benefit arguing. Thanks for input folks!
