Hello everyone, I am looking for video editing software. I am building an online course and want to edit a screen recording video of IDE while having some annotation and text around the video, in case if I miss anything in the explanation. I am a mac user and very rarely use the window system now. After googling I came across two software 1. Apple Final cut PRO 2. Screen Flow Final cut provides a free version for 90 days and the screen flow free version provides video with a watermark. Just want to know your opinion with its pros and cons. I am willing to pay the subscription if it’s worth it. Or is there any better alternative? I also saw Ali Abdal’s course of Final cut PRO, let me know you have something similar to share.

If you’re just starting out with video editing, start with basic tools mac’s built-in video editor (iMovie?) or FOSS like OpenShot and OBS (game streamers use it a lot but it is a fairly capable screen-recording tool as well). FCP is pricey unless you’re a pro video editor and used to make complex videos. There are YouTubers who use FOSS tools exclusively and still make killer videos.

@famous-shoe-18224 Wow!!! DaVinci looks cool. I am not able to find the feature set its provide in free and paid version. I am assuming paid for cloud and collaboration ?
@flat-morning-91037 That’s true. FCP is pricey. I’ve recorded my videos using OBS only. Did not know about OpenShot. Will have a look. Thanks.

veed.io also seems popular. Disclaimer: I've not personally used it though.

@able-xylophone-142 I’m not sure about studio version. But AFAIK, if you want more than 4K rendering options, Neural Engine you can go for the paid one.
