I recently created a bookshelf of sorts in Notion to track all the books I’ve read so far, to-read etc. Also created a timeline view to visualise the reading progress over time. https://www.notion.so/Bookshelf-b1aeda6560bb4bcb93e9bff15c5a22ff

Are you on Goodreads?

Yes, that's where I log daily reading progress and get most of the datapoints.

I'm curious about the ratings one gives a book. I get completely lost to put a metric of no. of stars, since most of the time, u end up rating a book at the end of ur read, so it will be mostly subjective on how you felt that particular day of ending the book, right? How do you go about rating books? Do you follow a particular weightage ratio? Genuinely curious and wanna learn 😬

@crooked-horse-12661 I’ve noticed that in my case, the only ratings that matter are 1-star or 4-star (2 is the same as 1, 5 is the same as 4, 3 is useless). If I end up finishing the book, it’s 4+ star rating, if not it’s a 1 star rating. Rating a book 1-3 stars after finishing means a waste of time reading that book. A 5-star rating can be used to signal re-readability. But like you said, it’s highly subjective and personal. I’ve abandoned well-recommended and high-rated books, so I don’t trust anyone anymore 😄
