[Question for folks who listen to audio books] How do you manage to retain the knowledge? I recently started with Audiobooks and struggling with this. I usually listen to them before I go to sleep with a sleep timer but having hard time retaining the stuff I listen. Any tips? 👀

I have recently started listening to only fiction audio books. There are some non fictionaudio books you can listen to and some you need to read the actual book. Over the years, I have started listening to a book on audible - only to get it on kindle / paper once 10% in 😬 Not sure if it helps. But wanted to say I am in the same boat as you 🙂

Listening to them before going to sleep can't work for me. I usually listen to light podcasts while going to sleep. IMO audiobooks require most of your attention. I I listen to audiobooks while running)walking or commuting.

Notes in evernote instantly after a lesson, bookmarks in audible to be revisited later

For this very reason I avoid non-fiction books in audio format. It is just memoirs and fiction in audio. If I feel an urge to do the highlighting version of audible then I bookmark it so that I can do the highlighting in its kindle version. If I want to paraphrase some insight while listening then it is always voice recorder which can be transcribed later in a document.

Basically if it's a self help, you don really need to retain them unless u plan to do something about it, if you do, that stuff is cognitively etched and you won't forget..its more around consciousness stream that you need to focus when you read such books.. for fiction, you usually don just read but visualise..I really never had issues with retention if I am.loving it.
