Hey friends, I need some good unique sci-fi recommendations that do not involve common themes like alien invasions, first contact, time-travel. Have read some books with these themes already (Project Hail Mary, Recursion, Bobiverse Trilogy, Three Body Problem etc.) and want to explore more.

If you're into graphic novels, do read "Transmetropolitan" too.

+1 for Dune

Stranger in a Strange Land - it was an extremely controversial book when it released and it tackles topics like religion and philosophy. Very interesting read.

+1 for Dune +1 for Deception Point, it's deceptively an underrated Dan Brown fiction! Also, how about Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy?

Really enjoyed non-Robert Langdon books from Dan Brown. Will read Dune and Hitchhikerโ€™s now :D

A bit late to the thread but I think you might enjoy R.Heinlein's Time enough for Love. Follows a very unique structure and is a very entertaining read.
