When I want to read a book, I simply add it to "books to-read" list in my Goodreads profile. But later, I often forget what had attracted me towards that book in the first place. As a result, I don't even know why I have a particular book in my list. Do you have any idea of how this can be tackled. I don't want to maintain lust another list on notion, note-taking app etc, simply because Goodreads is just very easy.

You can use something line this - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/note-anywhere/bohahkiiknkelflnjjlipnaeapefmjbh?hl=en or for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ourstickys/ This allows to you create notes on webpages. You can add note on the side of each book and when you open the list again, the notes will be there. See this example-

I have created a Notion DB for this, so I add the book from the browser in the DB and immediately save some context about the book. If you want you can save more context in each page.
