People who have read 'Dune', I am curious to know what do you make of the book? There are so many layers to it, that everyone would have different interpretations of the story in all domains: political, ecological, ethical, religious etc. I am especially curious about what you think about the use of Arabic terminology, rituals and the liberal use of the term 'jihad'. I often fail to see the book as science-fiction but more as a fantasy. And is it justified that the writer has used so many elements from the real world, or do you instead see that as a lack of creativity?

I don't think that's a liberal use of the term because the book was written in 1965, at a time when islam was a western ally helping them fight against communism. Jihad is a loaded term now, it wasn't back then

It blends the two almost seamlessly to the point where you can't tell where the sci-fi ends and the fiction begins. Besides, it was originally written for a teenage audience 😐
