any tool/bot to download or copy a slack message to an externally stored or linked file , such as to a google doc, PDF or something outside the slack workspace ?

tried finding it sometime back but couldnt. all I could get was some other app that would keep the history of the app.
I think a small slack bot or an action could prove helpful

yeah..i’m trying zapier integration too, but needs the access rights from admin to install it on WS.
@calm-grass-85557 having a slack bot to do this job can be very helpful in making a good archive of the info exchanged on slack. Any thoughts ?

Hey Samir, I did set one up for myself but honestly I ran out of steam. It was a zapier integration which used to save slack messages in google sheet when I used to star them.
The above requires a lot of will power and I feel I have a better solution in mind if you can give me some time
We should have a call sometime to discuss more. What do you think ?

Simple and stupid idea is to either share a message to a bot to save it, or create a custom emoji reaction and save the message if that reaction is used.

i'd say write a very simple bot to copy the messages from all channels on a daily basis and put in a text file on chronological basis. you can schedule actions on the bots.
again have the bot store separate favourites for each user so they can get the data from there. - much like a todo

I can help too, as I need this for one more workspace

Not sure on what the purpose of the bot will be. If it is evident that the bot saves chat histories for the workspace, Slack might disapprove it from putting it on App Directory as it might conflict with their terms - History being a paid feature. We need to install the app as a developer installation only on the workspaces. 🤷 could give it a try.

Yes Vignesh, you are right, that's a real conflict of interest. Digging deep into the bot approval policies of slack might help.
