What travel insurance can you recommend for USA? have you had any claim experience? I used to take religare but found their numbers didn't exist when i needed to get some support.

@adamant-hamburger-91610 are you sure their numbers did not exist or was it some problem with your network. I have been taking Religare too for some time for travel insurance (never had to make a claim), and noticed that they had a toll free number and I have had problems calling to those toll free numbers from outside india (I have faced similar problems trying to call my bank from outside india). My solution to that has been to keep skype loaded with some credits and use that to call these toll free numbers
something that has worked very well for me is World Nomads. They are pretty good in terms of the coverage and the service. I had to claim it once in Nepal and the whole process was pretty seamless. They are definitely pricey, however worth it depending on why you are buying it for.
I usually buy world nomads when there is some aspect of uncertainty involved and Religare for casual travel

Hey @purple-animal-84963 i had troubles calling from Sweden last year. I tried both local numbers and skype credits. I called the number on the policy document and several others from google but none worked. It didn't say number doesn't exist on the line but there was no ring either. I'll check your recommendation out.

@adamant-hamburger-91610 I have always gotten ICICI . Seamless and they have good coverage. Haven't claimed though. But number works for sure 😊

I am gonig to try calling religare just to see if it even works. Have had a similar experience with Royal Sundaram (their toll free number does not work)
phew, the customer care number of religare does work (but yeah, I am going to call the insurance the next time before I take a policy)

Folks - you can be rest assured that all travel medical insurance plans from Indian companies will guarantee a hellish claims experience in the US. All these companies have sublimits - so even though the coverage amount could be high, the payout at an incident level will be very low. I'd always recommend a travel medical from a US carrier without any sublimits.

@shy-hair-8244 would you recommend any?

I usually buy from either insubuy.com or visitorscoverage.com
