How can someone learn advanced communication skills (written and verbal) that are required in the professional world?

Two Cents - 1. Communication at its root is the way how you express your ideas to others. Communication is more about asking the right question, for example if you are communicating with a person, who you don’t have any background of, you first ask them if they are somewhat familiar about the thing you are gonna explain. If they are familiar, they you can assume that a few jargons can be easily be used to express the idea. 2. on the flip side, if the concept being talked about is not familiar to them, we need to be clear they understand the jargon first and then explain. 3. Vocabulary plays an important part as well. Often, long sentences can be replaced with a word or a phrase. That removes the cognitive load on the other person to get involved for the length of the sentence. if information can be presented in precise manner, making sure we do that

Read books of that specific professional niche, Listen to podcasts & build a writing habit by starting a blog.

what worked for me: English cricket commentary in the 90s, and now a lot of US late night talk shows - colbert, meyers, conan, noah, stewart, etc.

@rich-shoe-15139 I can converse normally but in professional space I am lacking.
@wonderful-dusk-20983 you have made some nice points. I will try to practice first 2 points. What should I do learn corporate/tech vocabulary? I guess reading blogs, podcast like @witty-gigabyte-47737 mentioned would be a good starting point, right? @calm-grass-85557 I will join one, is there something virtual/remote for this?

Listening to podcast had a great impact on my communication skills. Also, I prefer listening to podcasts in 1.2x speed quite different than what is suggested by others (1.5x - 2x). It helps me to process what I’m listening.

Vishal, I am not aware. I am no longer participating in a toastmaster club.
