Hi everyone, I just wanted to know how much notice period is considered when we are switching to remote foreign company ? In India if we are working for MNC they generally have 60/90 days period . My company has 60 days period . Suppose if I get any offer from remote company will they consider 60 days period ? If no , then till how much limit they can consider .
Thanks !

Hey @delightful-florist-55380, if the company you're joining is reasonably sized, then they typically don't mind a 60 day period. Smaller startups may be a bit more desperate and may require that you join sooner. In general, companies hiring remotely understand that different countries have different practices for notice periods and should typically account for that when hiring.

We are a 9 person tech team and we have waited for a person 2 months only to have them refuse the last week (he was able to get a raise from his existing company). So unfortunately, now we prefer to hire people who have shorter notice periods.
@delightful-florist-55380 if you are applying to smaller companies as Ashwin said, you may want to start applying after quitting. Riskier - yes. But higher chances of conversion. However if you are applying to Automattic sized companies, they are always hiring and you can join easily in 60/90 days.

Notice period in the states is usually 2 weeks. 2-3 month notice periods are ridiculous but common practice in India
