depends, I’ve worked at places with that ‘rockstar’ culture and the management and compensation was awesome

It is a turn off actually. Same bucket as “ninja”. Interestingly, came across this post for YNAB in which they are seeking a “Humbly Confident Developer” 🙈

It's a big turn off for me personally. It indicates the company values individuals more than team efforts. That's how you wind up working with smart jerks. I was a personal believer of doing it all. Being a superstar. After working within industry. Doing real world work. I realized one person can't do it all for long. Not a sustainable model.

No offense to anyone using those terms but I personally find job postings with words like Rockstar, Ninja, 10x engineer, etc extremely cringy.

I agree with most of the comments here. I would any day prefer a simple, clearly worded job posting which shares more details of the company & expected day to day activity rather fancy terms

Question to folks here - what’s the best written job description you’ve seen?

This one from Tailwind was one of the best written job descriptions I had ever seen. https://jobs.tailwindui.com/full-stack-developer
