Can you elaborate a bit on the 'hacking' part?
Which aspect of carrd is suboptimal?
PS: I'm completely new to carrd, so trying to learn.

Carrd is very basic and the sites you build on it by default are very clumsy. They're not very responsive and don't follow best practices. Good thing is you can play around with the CSS. So I use CSS and classes to modify everything to my taste and make it responsive and I have a good landing page in a few hours.
