I am planning to setup a broadband connection in my home, and currently looking into Jio Fiber and Airtel Xtreme Fiber. Based on some research, looks like most folks aren't happy with Jio's customer support, and it's services are okay. Airtel on the other hand, is usually the preferred choice with good connectivity and reasonable upload and download speeds. I wanted to know if anyone has experience with these services and which one would you recommend?

If your work relies on the connection, get both. Have cheaper plan on one and use it as backup. I have You Broadband (250 mbps) which is primary and Airtel Fiber (40 mbps) is on cheapest plan available as backup. My total monthly subscription cost comes in around Rs. 1700

I have been using Asianet fiber without any interuption for around 8 months. Not sure if it exists in north india though.

I have gone all in on Airtel. My and my family’s mobile connections, internet, DTH are with Airtel. I am very satisfied with Airtel.

@flat-morning-91037 Do you have separate wifi router for the back up as well? or is there any kind of network device that automatically falls back to airtel when there is a problem with You broadband?
f
I have two routers yes, but one can buy a switch that swaps between available connections. I didn't go that hardcore with my home network. 😅

@hundreds-winter-88791 With respect to Airtel, what all documents do they check for verification and how much is the activation fees? I am looking into (30 Mbps) Jio Fiber Vs (40 Mbps) Airtel Xtreme. 40 Mbps should work fine with the day to day work that I have.

I'd advise against getting Jio Fiber. It is a privacy nightmare. Their router firmwares are completely locked out and they log everything you do and continuously profile you. Airtel does the same but atleast the routers are not locked and you can connect PiHole to block ads and tracking.

Asianet Fiber and You broadband, aren't available in my hometown ☹️ @flat-morning-91037 How much data is allocated per month in 40 Mbps plan?
f
I think you can check all the details for your region on Airtel Thanks app.

Okay, thanks @faint-energy-11966 🙂

I have used Airtel in the past, reliability is 100%, and the speed mentioned on the plan is what you get. I have had the best experience with Airtel. Besides, i have also used Netplus and Connect broadband in Punjab. not sure which ones you have in your city.

All airtel plans are now unlimited (with FUP around 3.5TB per month I think).

+1 for Airtel and Tata Sky Broadband. Don’t have experience with Jio as yet. The only downside with these guys (Airtel and Tata Sky) is that there is no dialing-in to them. So, if you have a mesh router, it needs to be configured as an extender and you lose some of the QoS features. Also +1 for getting both. If you are a remote worker in India today, you need to have atleast 1 backup. I have 200 Mbps on Airtel fiber, 100 Mbps on a backup fiber line along with Airtel 4G and JIO as backups…

Thank you guys for your valuable input 🙂 . Tata Sky was recommended by one of my friends too, but it isn't available in my city. Between Jio and Airtel, I am preferring Airtel at the moment. I have filled in their form, let's see when they reach out!!!
