Hey everyone, could you please advice on good health insurance plans I must consider ? I'm looking for something that will insure my parents and me and has coverage for most kinds of treatments. Does something like this exist? My last working day is in two days and my corporate group medical insurance plan will cease to exist. I'm just starting out so I have no clue.

Search for "insurance" on finance channel. There were some threads with links to some really good guides https://remoteindian.slack.com/archives/CLNV9DGM8/p1619333401148000?thread_ts=1619333401.148000&cid=CLNV9DGM8

Of course I will share what I select here. I was on call with a rep from HDFC ergo yesterday. They are really good since they acquired both L&T and Apollo insurance companies and have a network of over 10k cashless hospitals across india. The only downside is the waiting period. Only accidents are covered immediately from the day of starting the plan. You need to wait 30 days to cover for any other illness and upto 2 years for some others.
I don't have one yet
I think you should do is ASAP. Im not sure but I think all companies have a 30 day period before you can start the claims

I have the family plan by Star for now for my parents, sister and me.

@eager-glass-72786 I have the HDFC Optima Restore. Honestly, I am not sure if it's one of the better products out there, so you will have to speak to the experts and make your decision.

https://remoteindian.slack.com/archives/C6M8YKK96/p1620543143344400 The linked twitter thread is amazing. Post reading it all ... one key thing that stood out for me was that if you change policy provider, then your wait period starts over again (typically 4 years) for some of the critical illnesses. So... based on that, I approached the same company which provided me Group health in my prior job ( oriental) and got my group plan "ported" over to individual with no history loss. So my cover for critical illness continued without any gap. Hope this helps.
