A basic question: I have never travelled via flight before and I plan to travel in a few months from Pune to New Delhi. I wanted to know flights from which company are good and what restrictions should I keep in mind while travelling, especially related to luggage. I know there are some restrictions like one cannot carry more than X kgs, but what exactly is that, I have no clue. P.S I am thinking of travelling via GoAir
k
The bag you carry with you inside the cabin cannot be more than 7kgs. The bag you drop off at the counter cannot be more than 15kgs. You can only carry one of each (a 7kg backback and a 15kg travelcase). GoAir is a good choice.

You cannot put any batteries (wether inbuilt or otherwise) in your
checked-in baggage
(the 15 Kg that you will drop off at the counter, and pick up on the carousel when you land). You must put these in your
carry-on baggage
(the 7 Kg that you will carry with you on the plane). Unlike other forms of travel, there is a lot of moving around and handling baggage, so please always be aware of things you are carrying and what you are doing. You can only carry a limited amount of liquids (beverages, shampoos, suntan lotions, creams, toothpastes, hair gels and hair sprays) in the
carry-on baggage
.

Liquids must be transported in aĀ plastic bag for liquids.
This bag must not be larger thanĀ 20 x 20 cmĀ and further beĀ transparent andĀ resealable.
All containers with liquids must be placed in the bag for liquids. Each container must not exceed eĀ aĀ capacity of 100 ml.
OnlyĀ one such liquid bag per personĀ is allowed.
The liquid bag must beĀ presented separatelyĀ at the security checkpoint for screening purposes.
I generally carry an empty bottle through, and fill drinking water on the other side of security; most airports have drinking water stations, and it’s a better world with less single-use water-bottles. Be organised (and careful) for security checks at the airport, keep all your cables, keys, liquids and laptop in a way that you can unpack and pack quickly. If it is your first time at the airport, plan for 20-30 minutes to check-in, 20-30 minutes through security, 15 minutes to get to your gate, and another 20 minutes for buffer. Your flight boarding will start 15-45 minutes before departure, so in all get to the airport about 2 hrs and 15 minutes before. Keep a government issued photo ID, and your ticket ready on your phone to be inspected till you get your boarding pass. If in doubt, just find a member of the airline staff or the CISF personnel and ask. On the plane stay hydrated, and keep moving your legs. You can always ask for a glass of water. Carry some biscuits, nuts or chocolates with you so you can grab a bite, without partaking of the merciless airport/airplane food. Make sure you carry a book or load up on some offline content on NetPrimeStar. Carry earphones! Or get a window seat and look out at the clouds. The cabin pressure is regulated to simulate an altitude of 8000 ft (planes usually fly between 30,000 ft and 50,000 ft) and you might feel your ears blocked or clogged. To ā€œpopā€, just close your mouth, pinch your nostrils and blow very gently (too hard will stress your ear drum). Even if this doesn’t work, don’t worry, it will pass. When you land don’t forget to pick up your
checked-in baggage
at the carousel (the number will be announced on the flight) and make sure you match the tag to the one attached to your boarding pass. Flying is a really exciting experience for me, and I hope you enjoy it too.

@cold-school-3088 Summarised everything perfectly. I would just add that since its your first flight try to leave for the airport even earlier than most normal passengers. You can enjoy exploring the airport if you have extra free time but you definitely wouldn't want any rush at the last moment.

Thank you guys for all your detailed inputs and suggestions šŸ™‚ šŸ™ Can you also please suggest an app for booking these tickets?

My favorite product is ClearTrip, but they really crashed during the pandemic unfortunately! So my strong suggestion is MakeMyTrip (for the discounts). There is a lot of dark design stuff going on on these sites, so check the amounts at every step and also make sure you read all the fine print with the offers. You can save a ton of money, by just paying attention. Yatra is my third, just in case these don’t row your boat.

Only recently GoAir has had capacity / time issues. I went from Pune to Delhi on 24 April. Flight was delayed 3 times with no support from staff. If you have the budget please go via Vistara as its the only one operating on time at the moment. And not to say as of today you need a negetive RTPCR report less than 72 hrs old fot traveling

@quick-judge-84214 ease my trip is a good app , gives many coupons to apply . Indigo flights are good .
