LinkedIn is the medium my company approached me.  I still find people reaching out via LinkedIn. I always stress the importance of updating their linked-in profile. What about you all ?
k
I don't take linkedin too seriously. I mostly get spammed by recruiters who don't share anything about the job like compensation range, the recruitment process, etc. For me angel.co > linkedin. But ofcourse, nothing beats a referral since you're already vetted for in most cases. I got my job via a slack community where my current manager is also a part of.

2/3 long term gigs from hackernews 1/3 from stack overflow for me.

Same as @kind-queen-6796 I got my gig from a Slack community (Lenny's Slack)

Link to Lenny’s slack?

Its paid. If you're a paid member you'd get an invite but IMO its worth the money. (you get good subscriber only posts + questions answered + deals)
m
Oh, it’s for Paid subscribers? Will look into it. I find his blogs pretty helpful

@powerful-planet-56851 Lenny Rachitsky?

@kind-queen-6796 Yes.

Strange. My experience has been opposite to that of @kind-queen-6796 Applying via Angel.co was a complete waste of time. No company ever responded. Most just ghost you. A colleague of mine has had the same experience I've had much better success via LinkedIn and company website.
m
The hack I had used previously is to filter good companies on angel and send a cold mail ^^ Worked multiple times.

Same here. The first thing I do is filter, then look for careers page on their official website. If there isn't one, then I apply via LinkedIn
