my MacBook Pro seems to be crashing after every few minutes of starting up. The crash report reads "ANS2 Recoverable Panic - assert failed". Tried everything on the support call and as expected seems like an hardware issue. Only unicorn in Malad (Mumbai) seems to be having an appointment for 19th at the earliest and they say it will take 5-7 working days. Is that the best option I can get?
p
where are you located ?
s
Mumbai. The main worry is they say that it will take up about a week for the machine to be back after repair. That feels so long without a backup machine

Try here - https://macstation.co.in/ Mumbai Service Center  Ganesh Bhavan Building, 349, Lamington Rd, Grant Road East, Mumbai, 400007 I have been taking my mac/ipad etc for fixing @ their Pune office and they are good. Very reliable and cost effective. Mostly I get it back same day (battery/ moisture issues) or in a day or 2. You might have a faster turnaround time in Mumbai.
You can check out their mumbai center reviews https://g.page/apple-repair-mumbai-

that's really helpful and noted. This time the Mac is under apple care hence if I take it to macstation I will void that I think?

You can at least speak to them and find out what is the possible cause. they have been very helpful. there are they few business - which care more for customer relationship then making a quick buck. According to me - they themselves will tell you to go to apple care due to warranty - but they will give you good pointers for faster action from apple care. (at least this is my personal experience in Pune)

great advice! Thank you :) also it's working fine in safe mode

@strong-evening-37474 avoid 3rd party when you have applecare at all costs. Go to maplestore.in in Khar, Bandra. They're apple authorised service centers.
s
@kind-queen-6796 yeah going into unicorn tomorrow (same apple authorised). Have you by any chance experienced this repair process? Does it really take 5-7 working days to get it back repaired?
k
@strong-evening-37474 the service centers usually have to order parts directly from apple which is why it takes longer. The repair process takes merely 2-3 hours for hardware. I recently got two of my ipads replaced, got them both in under 4 days.

that's nice! Last question: what about the data? I haven't been able to log out from my apple id on it (Not booting now) I guess I will sign out from that device from my phone!?
k
Yeah, you'll have to remove your apple id from the devices list though. Locally stored data will be gone if they end up replacing the motherboard. So take a timemachine backup via safe mode.
