In my breaks, I mindlessly scroll through reddit, insta etc. Trying to reduce my screen time. So would love to hear ideas on how you take short breaks?

I use rescuetime for tracking my productivity - so I generally keep an eye on it to ensure that I don’t go overboard on distracting sites. You can also set goals (e.g. not more than 30 mins on social media) and it send out a alert when you reach a threshold) - Also it has a Pause for 15/60 mins. When I have a deadline and I know I need extra focus - I try to use Be focused - to set intervals of 25 mins followed by 5 min break - I use it more to ensure I take break in between.

I was the most productive when I had time based blocking for websites like reddit. I would only be able to access the website after 10 PM. For this, I had flashed DD-WRT on my old router. Unfortunately, these blocking features are not available on my current router firmware and I cannot flash DD-WRT. So I use the following 1) Freedom 2) Leechblock Ng browser extension

Vishnu, I use Timeout app on Mac. It's part of the Setapp subscription. Also, Freedom is great if you are looking to spend less time on social media etc.

These suggestions are super helpful, will check them out. Do you use any physical objects / play-things during the breaks? I don’t have a pet but can imagine playing with one in my breaks, looking for such ideas also.

I generally go to the terrace and get some air/sunlight. You can find more ideas here.

Spent sometime reading summaries of Cal Newport on ‘Digital Minimalism’. Experimented with some of your suggestions above and I can see it working. Still a long way to go, but thanks for your comments.
