Hey guys, let's say I move to a country like Canada, UK on work visa/permit , get a remote job, can I come back to India to leverage the dollar/pound to inr arbitrage? Was wondering if this is possible & anybody has done it.
b
TL.DR - No. Tons of tax, legal implications. Long - No, most of these remote jobs that require you to be in the country, need you to be a resident to pay you to a local bank. Once you leave the country, you have to suspend the local bank account.

@brash-monitor-80970 Thanks for clarifying 🙂

@mammoth-kilobyte-43714 Sure you can if the company is willing to continue working with you. But some changes will be needed - they will need pay you in the Indian bank account number after moving back. In many cases, if you prove your worth, the company won't adjust you to "Indian salaries" so you could get close (say 75%) of western salaries, get paid in USD/EUR but in India. I have done it, and I'm sure so have others here.

@helpful-gigabyte-47939 I am so glad to hear that. Would you be available some time to connect for a 15-20 min call? I wanted to get a bit more clarity on how do I execute this better and make the right decisions. If you are busy. I could right down my questions on DM. Let me know what works with you. 🙂

@mammoth-kilobyte-43714 best to write down the questions and send them over - I'll be on vacations all of May but would be happy to talk after that.

Feels like I should update my answer a bit. What you want to do is definitely possible, but the company you will be working for may or may not have the capacity to do it. All I suggest is don't move assuming its possible in 100% of the cases. Eg. If you secure a job with companies like JPMC, Apple, Accenture or other regulated industries, it won't work. Will work with mid scale or startups for sure.
